Trackback at OSCon. (In other words, near-realtime aggregation of realtime Weblogging at the O'Reilly Open Source conference this week.) Weblogs are inching forward towards their manifest destiny as a new form of decentralized media. They are synergistic with WiFi wireless connections -- one makes it easy to connect from almost anywhere, the other makes it easy to put content online from anywhere you're connected.
The key missing pieces for blogging to get serious mainstream traction are better aggregation/syndication/search mechanisms, and a blogging tool that sells in large numbers. By analogy to the early days of the Web, the first is Yahoo! and the second is Frontpage.
