Windows uber all platforms?
Yahoo! News - Microsoft Buys New Tech To Aid Server Upgrades
A conspiracy theorist would say that Microsoft is buying Connectix's VirtualPC technology as an "ace in the hole" to run Windows and its applications on Apple and Linux machines. Even if these other platforms continue to make inroads, Microsoft will be able to re-create its OS monopoly at a higher level of the stack. But then again, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm sure the server virtualization and migration rationale given in the Yahoo! News story above was the primary initial rationale.
